PICTURE THE BOOK IN THE ROOM WITH THE PIANO

In her eighth solo exhibition, Svetlana Mircheva presents a series of drawings from 2022 and light-and-sound installations. The exhibition can be viewed at UniArt Gallery of New Bulgarian University between 27th October and 18th November.
Our team is excited that it will be namely this pilot project that marks the initiation of commercial activity in the Gallery with the principal aim of supporting and developing contemporary Bulgarian artists.
About her work on the project, Svetlana shares:
Picture the Book in the Room with the Piano is a series of drawings with which I envisage the creation of a book. The book appeared in my imagination with its own thought and future. I made the first drawings at the beginning of the year during my creative stay at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, some of which were shown at the Café des Arts, the space provided for exhibiting my works.
I pictured the book in the room with the piano as the sound of the rehearsal rooms filled the corridors of the artistic hub. In the exhibition at UniArt Gallery, my imaginary book takes on different images and acquires life through the drawings themselves. It comes alive. The drawings are not its harbingers, but testimonies of the days to come.
I also show images of sound in two light-and-sound installations composed of sounds from the urban environment, presented for the first time in Vienna. The author of the music for them is Angel Simitchiev. Here, the image of sound is frozen in the air, illuminated, like a repeating unfamiliar melody, like a graphic score for a city and an orchestra. And perhaps the wavy line of sound is the line of life, of breathing, of vibration, perhaps it is the invisible vibration of the city all around us.
