Exhibitions

This exhibition is an invitation for a conversation. It presents a collection put together by Bojidar Danev over a period of more than two decades. It is a testimony to his own appreciation, inquiries and insights. While some of the artworks were commissioned, most of them were produced for the booming art market, attesting to current tastes, ideas, visions and experiences of people, mostly from the region of the Low Countries in the 17-18th century. This is a view from the South-East to the North of Europe, shared with the audience in the Gallery of the New Bulgarian University.

The exhibition is arranged in four thematic groups: portraits, biblical stories, allegories and proverbs, genre scenes and landscapes. It tries to shorten the distance with our time, and, to do that, it relies on you, the viewer. How much time you would allow yourself to dwell in those pictorial worlds and presences, what kind of questions would you ask the images, would you bond your own memories of past experiences or fire up your imagination while looking?
